    ABSTRACT

    Vitamin B12, eritropoez, miyelin formasyonu ve biyokimyasal metabolizma için gerekli bir vitamindir. Eksikliğinde beyin, optik sinirler, periferik sinirler ve spinal kord etkilenebilir. Beyin ve özellikle spinal kordda oluşan demiyelinizasyon ve aksonal dejenerasyonun, hastalarda non-spesifik semptomlara yol açabilmesi nedeniyle vitamin B12 eksikliğinde beyinde ve spinal kordda görülebilen tipik “manyetik rezonans görüntüleme” bulgularının bilinmesi erken tanı ve böylece kalıcı hasarları önleyebilmek adına oldukça önem taşır.
