ABSTRACT
With the increase in computed tomography utilisation in our daily practice, cystic changes of the lung are frequently encountered. The diseases of the lung characterized by cystic changes have a wide spectrum of differential diagnosis and it is also important to differentiate cysts from other air-filled lung lesions. Lung cysts by definition; are thin walled (≤2 mm) spherical parencymal lucencies, interfaced with normal lung parenchyma. The age and gender group of patients, the distribution-multiplicity of lung cysts and other accompanying parenchymal findings such as nodules, ground glass areas are important clues in the radiological work up of cystic lung diseases. Although the diagnosis is often possible with a multidisciplinary approach in most of the cases, biopsy is rarely needed for definitive diagnosis.
