ABSTRACT

Endometriosis is defined as presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterus and myometrium. Symptoms are variable and it can cause infertility. Ultrasonography (US), especially transvaginal ultrasonography is the first line imaging method for the evaluation of the disease; however it has some limitations. US has limited field of view and it depends on practitioner. Because of these limitations, laparoscopy is the standart method for the diagnosis and staging. Magnetic resonance imaging has high sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of the disease. In this review, the clinical, pathological and imaging features of endometrosis are discussed.
