ABSTRACT
Spinal degenerative diseases (SDH) are a common disease and have socioeconomic and medical importance. Clinical findings vary from mild pain to severe neurological symptoms. It is a common finding on routine imaging of the spine. It is partly due to physiological aging, partly to a pathological condition, and sometimes this distinction is not clear. In this review, the latest standard terms created by researchers for normal and pathological conditions in the imaging of SDH are used for a correct and clear understanding of lumbar disc terminology by clinicians, radiologists and researchers.
