ABSTRACT

Acute abdomen is a condition that usually manifests clinically as a sudden onset of abdominal pain that may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting, and occurs due to inflammatory, infectious, obstructive and vascular causes, and requires urgent intervention and treatment. In this article, the etiology of inflammatory acute abdomen will be presented with important examples of this subject, etiological factors specific to each subject, pathogenesis of these diseases, clinical and imaging findings. In this context, acute appendicitis, non-specific mesenteric lymphadenitis, acute diverticulitis, epiploic appendagitis, acute cholecystitis, acute pancreatitis and inflammatory bowel disease, which are the main groups of diseases that cause acute abdomen of inflammatory origin, will be discussed.
