    ABSTRACT

Although the diagnosis of infectious mastitis, which is an acute inflammation of the breast parenchyma, is usually made together with the clinical findings; It may also present with symptoms that may lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment. The main principle in the treatment of breast infection is to diagnose it as early as possible to prevent abscess formation and to decide on appropriate antibiotic treatment if necessary. If the infection or inflammation does not improve despite antibiotic treatment, abscess formation or an underlying neoplasia should be suspected. Appropriate and differential diagnosis requires the combined evaluation of the basic radiological, clinical and laboratory features of the lesions. This article covers the basic radiological features of lactational and non-lactational mastitis, which are common forms of infectious mastitis.
